HP releases BIOS updates that can resolve problems related to lockups. I don't want to insult intelligence but especially on custom builds. Finally, I personally believe the freezing issues to be related to hard drives. Troubleshooting is completed. Same thing occurs on a wireless desktop at my job but not with the wired desktop.
