Now I have to delete out all this extraneous stuff as well and I would much rather it just wasn't generated in the first place. What I've seen on my personal system is that when I only have the features I use installed, the SP1 upgrade process takes about 15 minutes end to end. I don't recall a software update causing so many issues while trying to run - never mind actually getting installed. But here is what I did to fix the problem: Install Visual Studio 2005 Professional During the install, a window popped up saying that VS2005 might not be compatible with Windows You might try using msiinv.exe which will provide information about the state of all Windows Installer products. then also run as administrator - VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU.exe Just Click OK, then I accept, then wait Just Click OK and you're done. Some people have noticed that my pictures and sample downloads on my site are missing at the moment.
