Visual Studio 2008 Cannot Register Assembly Access Denied
I don't know what caused it. Just lived with it until I read this solution. Can anyone give me some advice on how to solve this problem? Is there a log file or something I could provide you with to give you more information as to what is happening? have a peek here

When I am not writing software I race cars for fun. Please make sure you're running the application as administrator. Maybe it wasn't compiling and linking the DLL project, not sure. I deleted it manually with no problems, and everything is fine.
- Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) I have taken the following steps: Confirmed that I am in fact running Visual Studio 2010 as administrator.
- I started the project yesterday.
- The user has installed Visual Studio 2008 and 2010 but when he tries to register an assembly, he gets this error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(3912,5): error MSB3216: Cannot register assembly "D:\Development\Automated Build\Builds\WellManager\rep_develop\sourcecode\NPD\bin\Release\LineMergeConfirmSave.dll" - access
- Once I formatted and reinstalled Windows 7, the issue went away completely.
- Tonight I am going to run each project separately and figure out what's going on, it's completely random.
- I'll edit some code, and hit F5 and it'll say "Unable to copy file to file" etc.

I figured this out by going an XP image (I wanted to rule out Windows 7 and UAC issues), then grabbing the solution and trying to Build it. There's an easy way to suppress this behaviour when working with NCrunch.
