What gives with these jokers? I have a pc with Ubuntu 8.04, a pc with windows Vista, and a HP printer, all three individually connected by ethernet cables to my router which in turn is connected I have installed 6 new Vista PCs on a Linksys router wirelessly. Had the same problem with my new Linksys router. Source
If you have Norton, turn off its firewall. You would get nothing since you were not validated to connect to the router wirelessly. I do not use Windows Firewall, but I presume it has similar settings. I am ethernet connected to a 4 port linksys router. 2 laptops I use can use the router ports and cables ok.

FWIW, I have an ABIT machine that worked fine with XP, but Vista did not like the on-board NIC at all! Two Laptops can be pinged between the 2 but rest do not.

- The problem is probably in your Encryption.

Pretty much if arp works but ping does not then it is a firewall blocking it. To double check this hook up an Ethernet wire as a test. The router can ping all PCs. The only other remedy I can think of is a clean windows reinstall, which I really would like to avoid.Any ideas on what could be the problem?Thanks.
