I would suggest you follow VMware KB article on our to commit missing snapshots.... There should be a Lab.vmx file. Attempting WinMount but it says… Winmount can not mount this file… Is it because it's version 2.0? In the virtual machine's vmware.log file, you see messages similar to: Jul 22 09:22:32.141: vmx| DISKLIB-LINK : "myvm.vmdk" : failed to open (The system cannot find the file specified).

I would suggest pointing all files back to their orginal locations, Remove all snapshot then redirect the snapshot to their new location...

From time to time, I want to copy just the minimum files for a VMware virtual machine: the two .vmdk files and the .vmx file. I was able to recover by copying the VMDK to a new session.
